Air Travel Guidelines: DGCA extends ban on international passenger flights till August 31

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), in a circular issued on Friday, informed that the ban on international passenger flights coming from India has been extended till August 31, 2021.

This restriction will not apply to all international cargo operations and specifically to DGCA approved flights, it was informed.

The DGCA circular said, “In partial amendment of circular dated 26.06.2021, the competing competent authority has extended the validity of the circular issued on the subject mentioned above in respect of scheduled international commercial passenger services from India up to 25 59 hours IST of 31 August 2021.” has been extended.” reads.

This restriction will not apply to all international cargo operations and in particular flights approved by DGCA, it adds.

“However, international scheduled flights may be permitted on selected routes by the competent authority on case to case basis,” the DGCA said.

The ban on international commercial flights to and from India was ending on July 31 as per the previous announcement.

Recently, 2 major UAE airlines, Etihad and Emirates, further extended the suspension on flights to Dubai from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Geo News reported, citing travel advisories from carriers, that Emirates has suspended flight operations until August 7, while Etihad has extended the suspension to August 2.

Emirates said in its travel advisory, “In line with the directives of the UAE Government, Emirates will suspend the carriage of passengers from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to Dubai until 07 August 2021.”

Scheduled international passenger services in India have been suspended with effect from 23 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
