AICTE issues guidelines for conducting exams for people with disabilities

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has issued a set of guidelines for conducting written examination for persons with disabilities as per the guidelines of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. As per the guidelines issued, the term “overtime or overtime” given to the disabled has been changed to compensatory time.

AICTE also said that for those who are allowed to use scribe/reader/lab assistant, the test should not be less than 20 minutes per hour. The ministry has said that blind candidates will not be given Braille script, instead they will have to arrange scribes on their own.

AICTE has directed all the institutes and approved universities to strictly implement the revised guidelines while conducting the examination in online or offline mode. Apart from these, AICTE has also directed the institutions to follow other guidelines issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Heads of institutions and universities have been asked to visit the website of the ministry for further guidelines.

Also, there will be no component of Map/Graph/Diagram/Statistical data in the question paper for visually impaired candidates. There is no bar on the qualifications for a writer.

The candidates claiming the category of PWD will have to produce the original medical proof issued by the competent medical authority and the scribe must also carry their valid identity proof, otherwise, they will not be allowed for the examination. , as per the guidelines.

The scribe arranged by the examinees should not be a candidate for the same examination. Also, a person can act as a writer for only one candidate. As per the guidelines, the candidate will be responsible for any malpractice on the part of the writer brought by him during the Computer Based Test (CBT).
