Gujarat reported twin Covid-19 cases on Sunday, out of which five infections were from Ahmedabad on Sunday. A total of eight patients recovered from the infection and were discharged during the last 24 hours, taking the active tally to 49.
With the city accounting for more than 40 per cent of the Covid infections, the health department officials have been on an alert. Gujarat had 98 active cases at 5 pm on Sunday and none of the active patients needed ventilators, the state health department officials said.
The active cases in Ahmedabad account for more than 70 per cent of the state’s tally, raising concerns for the health department, On the other hand, Vadodara had 25 active cases, accounting for 74 per cent of the active cases. At least 21 districts in the state had zero active Covid cases, the data showed.
NO DEATHS IN GUJARAT
The total Covid tally in Gujarat reached 12,24,245 with twelve positive cases and no deaths were reported, keeping it unchanged at 10,943. A state health department official told PTI that so far, 12,13,204 persons have recovered from the infection and 17 people were discharged during the day.
Around 1,605 people were vaccinated for the first dose of vaccine against Covid-19 and 5,242 received the second dose. The state administered 2,781 second doses to children in the 12-14 years age group, taking the total number to 3.07 lakh.
