Ahead Of Rajasthan Elections, BJP Surprises Congress In Urban Body Bypolls

Jaipur: The ruling Congress in Rajasthan won four, BJP eight and independent candidates two seats on Monday in the urban local body by-elections held on 14 seats in 12 districts of the state. Voting was held on Sunday and the results were declared on Monday. State Election Commissioner Madhukar Gupta said in a statement, “Out of a total of 14 ward councillors, eight candidates have been elected from the Bharatiya Janata Party, four from the Congress and two as independents.”

Congratulating the party workers for the victory, BJP state president CP Joshi said that people have raised the alarm against the Congress rule in the state. Joshi said, “The results proved that the people have raised the alarm against the misrule, corruption and jungle raj of the Congress.” “The results of the municipal bypolls have proved that the countdown for the Gehlot government has begun,” he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday asked Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to clarify his remark that Vasundhara Raje helped save his government during the 2020 party rebellion, calling it an “irresponsible” statement. Was. Gehlot, while addressing an event in Dholpur on Sunday, had claimed that he survived the 2020 rebellion by some Congress MLAs as BJP leaders Vasundhara Raje and Kailash Meghwal hatched a conspiracy to topple his elected government through money power. Refused to support.

However, Union Jal Shakti minister Shekhawat did not buy the remark and asked Gehlot to clarify how he was helped. Shekhawat said, ‘Vasundhara Raje is our senior leader. She was the chief minister twice and has also been the state president twice.

“I ask Ashok Gehlot to make a full disclosure as to when, where and how he was supported,” Shekhawat told a press conference here. In his turn, Raje said Gehlot’s “praise” was a “big conspiracy” against him and accused him of lying because of the rebellion in his party and its dwindling mass base.

Shekhawat said that if Gehlot has evidence to support his claim – that the BJP gave money to Congress MLAs – then he should file an FIR against the parties involved. He also said that his party leaders are exploring legal ways to challenge Gehlot’s claim.
