Agnipath protests: Congress announces solidarity ‘Satyagrah’ at Jantar Mantar

New Delhi: Congress MPs and leaders will sit on a “satyagraha” at Jantar Mantar here on Sunday (June 19, 2022) morning, along with youth opposing the Agneepath scheme for recruitment into the armed forces. Youth across the country have taken to the streets against this controversial scheme and incidents of violence have been reported from many cities and towns.

Sources said Congress MPs, its working committee members and office-bearers of the All India Congress Committee will be part of the “satyagraha” that will begin at 10 am at Jantar Mantar on June 19.

A party leader said, “The decision was taken because the Agneepath scheme has angered the youth of our country and they are protesting on the streets.” “It is our responsibility to stand by them.”
