Agneepath: Top CAPF officials clarify that not based on 10% ex-servicemen quota

On Tour of Duty’s Agneepath scheme, top Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) officials have clarified that the reservation for ‘Agnivar’ and the 10% quota for ex-servicemen are different, and that 10% of the recruits will be taken Will go ‘Agnivar’ in the forces, the Director General of the CAPFs told News18.

Giving details about the reservation for Agniveers, the DG said, “10 per cent reservation will be for Agniveers and it will be different from the quota of ex-servicemen. It will be a service-based reservation dedicated to a section of defense-trained personnel. It may be possible that some seats from the quota of ex-servicemen may get converted for Agniveer after taking due approval in case of vacant seats of ex-servicemen.

When asked how ‘Agnivar’ would be inducted, and criticism that the CAPFs would get “rejected lots” of the armed forces, the DG said, “Absolutely not, they have to meet basic tests and requirements to be tested.” and they will have to clear the same like other quota categories. But the relaxation in age, training, test rounds and cut-off will be different for them. They will not have to appear for standard physical and physical efficiency tests. To bring in qualified jawans. First, they will pass the test for Agniveers, serve in the armed forces for four years and then they will be tested for the CAPFs, but with some relaxations,” the top official said on condition of anonymity. .

When asked why he has to give two tests and can instead opt for one test directly for CAPFs, the top official said, “They will get several relaxations. If one comes directly, he/she will have to go through all the test training without any age relaxation. But the Agnivars will get everything and the number of seats will be reserved for them only. Additionally, they will have the experience of the armed forces, so they will be senior to a fresher too,” the DG said.

Another DG of a special force gave further clarification on reservation in recruitment. “There are two types of reservations, vertical and horizontal. Backward class citizens like SC, ST and OBC come under vertical reservation and ex-servicemen come under horizontal. The difference between them is that the vertical reservation has a horizontal cut but the latter cannot be inter-locked. Agniveer reservation will come under horizontal and all sections can be covered as Agniveer apart from their experience in the armed forces,” the DG said.

Top Army officials are also hoping that against the quota of ex-servicemen, a substantial number of applications will be received for Agniveers. There are many instances where their quota got converted to others after taking permission due to less number of applications.

“Ex-Servicemen prefer State/UT Police Departments after their tenure in Armed Forces. Since they are inducted through Staff Selection Commission (SSC), there is a whole process of recruitment and sometimes their quota also gets changed, but more or less we get sufficient numbers from the armed forces for posting in their services. Employees meet. DG told News18.
