While the scheme allows aspiring youth to serve in the armed forces for a period of four years, a new educational program is to be launched by the education ministry for those who enroll in the scheme. The program will provide youth in the armed forces to receive training for job roles in the civilian sector.

What is the 3-year IGNOU program for ‘Agnivar’ about?

According to an official press release, it will be a three-year skill-based undergraduate degree program designed by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for serving defense personnel, which will complement the skill training received by them during their tenure in defense establishments. will recognize.

What courses and skills will be offered to ‘Agnivar’?

It is a credit-based program leading to an undergraduate degree. Half (50%) of the credit will come from skill training (technical and non-technical) received by Agniveer. On the other hand, the remaining 50% will come from several courses such as Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Mathematics, Education, Commerce, Tourism, Business Studies, Agriculture and Astrology as well as qualifications. Students are not forced to complete the full three-year term of the program as it is designed to have multiple exit points.
