New Delhi: Amid widespread protests against the new model for enrolling soldiers in the three services, the government on Thursday raised the upper age limit for recruitment under the Agneepath scheme from 21 to 23 years for 2022. Unveiling the scheme on Tuesday, the government had said the entry age for all new recruits should be between 17 and a half to 21 years.
“Keeping in view the fact that recruitment has not been possible during the last two years, the government has decided that one-time relaxation will be given for the proposed recruitment cycle for 2022,” a Defense Ministry spokesperson said.
