Army will benefit from this

  • The Defense Ministry says that this will reduce the average age of our army from 32 to 24 to 26 years by 2030.
  • Leaving the recruitment stopped for two years, before this, about 60 thousand soldiers were recruited in the three armies every year, because about the same number of soldiers used to retire. The army wants to bring down the ratio of young and experienced soldiers to 1:1 in the next 10 years. It is clear that in the next 10 years, half of our three forces will be Agniveers. This will make our army more youthful, more fit and trainable.
  • If we look at the defense budget of 2022-23, it was 5.25 lakh crores. Out of this, Rs 1.19 lakh crore will be spent only on pension and about the same amount will be spent on salary. The rest of the needs of the army will be met with about three and a half lakh crores. Agniveer scheme will save a large part of the expenditure on pension and salary, which can be spent on providing good weapons and technology to the army.
