Around 10,000 women have registered to become Agniveer within 3 days of the opening of the Indian Navy portal. Indian Navy started the registration for Agneepath Recruitment Scheme on 1st July. This is the first time that the Indian Navy is going to recruit women as nine soldiers. They will also be deployed on warships as per operational requirements.

The Indian Navy has just started the registration process from 1st July. After this, the online application process for recruitment will start from July 15 to July 30.

Indian Navy has also released the notification of Agniveer SSR Recruitment 2022.  As per the notification there are total 2800 vacancies of Agniveer SSR out of which total 560 posts are for women.

Agniveers’ training will start from November 21
The Navy is making arrangements for sailors of the Indian Navy at the premier Basic Training Institute INS Chilka on 21 November. Where there will also be facility for training of women sailors. According to Navy officials, the Agneepath scheme in the Navy will be gender-biased. Presently, 30 women officers are sailing on board frontline warships.

Registration in Indian Airforce will close on July 5

The Indian Air Force said on Twitter that till June 29, 2,01,648 applications were received under the Agneepath scheme. The registration will close on 5th July 2022. It was told by the Air Force that the registration process under the scheme had started from June 24. Till 26 June i.e. 56,960 applications were received in just 3 days, while 94,281 applications were received till 27 June i.e. Monday.

Recruitment of women started in the army from 1990
Women have been inducted into India’s 1.4 million-strong armed forces since the 1990s, but only at officer ranks. This change of recruitment of women in other ranks was started for the first time by the Indian Army in 2019-20. As a result of this, 100 women personnel are presently the Corps of Military Police (CMP).

Last dates for Agniveer application in all three services
The Indian Air Force will close the registration of Agniveers on July 5. While the registration of Agniveers for the Navy has only started from July 1, detailed applications can be made from July 15. The last date has not been announced about how long the registrations started in the Indian Army will last from July 1. However, in August 2022, the army will start the recruitment rally. At the same time, the first batch of entrance exam will be held from October 16 and November 13 and the second batch will be on January 2023.

Agneepath scheme was announced on June 14
Union Minister Rajnath Singh had on June 14 announced the recruitment of youth in the armed services in the age group of 17-and-a-half years to 21 years under the Agneepath scheme in the presence of the three service chiefs. The service of these Agniveers will last only for four years. There is a provision of making the tenure of 25 percent of them 15 years. However, later in 2022 the age limit for recruitment has been increased to 23 years.
