Agartala Airport News: Suspicious bag suspected of having a bomb at Agartala airport | Agartala News – Times of India

Agartala: An unclaimed bag was recovered on Monday at the Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) airport in Agartala, raising the alarm.
Bomb disposal squad and airport security were dispatched to the spot to search for possible explosives.
“A suspicious bag has been found Agartala Airport Around 9.45 am. Someone left the bag at the site, suspecting it might contain explosives. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) team has cordoned off the entire complex and the entry-exit routes have been modified.
The disposal team is on the job and the airport director will be briefing the press shortly,” said Jempu Hokip, manager of the MBB airport.
The incident was reported amid political violence and a face-off between BJP-TMC Tripura,
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to hold a roadshow in Agartala.
The Tripura Police had refused permission to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and TMC to hold road shows or rallies in the city.
However, permission has been given to both the parties for street meetings.
Tension has escalated in Tripura following violent incidents in the wake of the November 25 elections to the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and 12 other civic bodies.
