After the Lakhimpur Kheri accident, Varun Gandhi once again criticized the Center

New Delhi: Days after criticizing the government with condemnation of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and demanding strict action against those involved, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi on Saturday again extended his support for the farmers and said that needs time. Rethink agriculture policy.

The Pilibhit MP took to Twitter to share a video of a farmer from Uttar Pradesh allegedly setting fire to him for being unable to sell his paddy crop.

“Shri Samodh Singh, a farmer from Uttar Pradesh, was roaming in the mandis to sell his paddy crop for the last 15 days. Disappointed when the paddy was not sold, he set the crop on fire. What has this system reduced to farmers? The need of the hour is to rethink agriculture policy,” he tweeted in Hindi.

In a video shared by the BJP MP, a man is seen throwing kerosene on a crop and setting it on fire, while some people are trying to stop him.

Later speaking in Bareilly, Gandhi clearly stated that the central government should accept the demands of the farmers.

“I have not done any corruption, but there are some politicians, who take money from police, mining… I have not taken my MP’s salary, government house… the public did not ask me to uplift myself but for the public. Has given the power to uplift and their issues,” he said, reported ANI.

Earlier this month, Pilibhit MP and his mother Maneka Gandhi were left out of the party’s newly announced National Executive Committee.

Hours earlier, he had pleaded for justice for the families of farmers killed in Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3.
