The opposition SAD on Sunday hit out at the Congress over discord within its Punjab unit and said the party was trying to replace a “failed” chief minister with Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is more known for his “dramatics”. . The opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also targeted the Congress and said that the infighting in the ruling party is only for the chair.

Badal said in a statement here that now the Congress is trying to replace its failed Chief Minister with former minister Sidhu, who is known more for theatricality rather than administrative role, in another drama. He alleged that the Congress government was not only following the policy of divide and rule but was also run by the worst Chief Minister in the history of Punjab.

AAP’s Punjab unit chief Bhagwant Mann said the tussle within the Congress for a single post has caused great damage to Punjab, Punjabis and ‘Punjabiat’. Mann said in a statement here that now the Congress will have to pay the price along with interest in the upcoming assembly elections.

The Sangrur MP said that the only agenda of all Congress leaders is to capture the seat. “Someone is fighting to save the chair and someone is trying to grab that chair,” he said. Mann said that the people of Punjab have made up their mind to teach a lesson to the Congress in the 2022 assembly elections.
