Kajol Deepfake Row: The video is actually of a British social media influencer, who originally shared the clip on TikTok as part of the ‘Get Ready With Me’ trend.
After Rashmika Mandanna, a deepfake video of Bollywood actress Kajol has surfaced on the internet. In the clip, a woman with Kajol’s face photoshopped on her body is seen changing clothes on camera. The video is actually of a British social media influencer, who originally shared the clip on TikTok as part of the ‘Get Ready With Me’ trend, according to fact-checking platform BoomLive.
Kajol Deepfake Video Controversy:
The influencer, identified as Rosie Breen, originally uploaded the video in question on TikTok on June 5, 2023, as part of the ‘Get Ready With Me’ (GRWM) trend. But in the digitally manipulated video which is now going viral on social media, Breen’s face is morphed by that of Kajol, and it has been made to look like the Bollywood actress is changing her dress on camera.
Rashmika Mandanna Deepfake Video Row:
Recently, a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna left celebrities in deep shock with many, including actors Amitabh Bachchan, Keerthy Suresh, Mrunal Thakur, Ishaan Khatter and Naga Chaitanya calling for legal action. Rashmika’s rumoured boyfriend, Vijay Deverakonda, too, reacted to the viral video and said what happened to her “shouldn’t happen to anyone”. The deepfake video showed a woman, dressed in a plunging dress, entering a lift. However, her face was morphed by that of Rashmika.
Katrina Kaif’s Morphed Image Row:
Last week, a morphed image of actress Katrina Kaif from the movie ‘Tiger 3’ surfaced online. The original image was from the film ‘Tiger 3’, starring Salman Khan and Katrina, depicting a scene where the actress is engaged in a fight with Hollywood actress Michelle Lee, both clad in white towels. The altered image portrayed the actress in a revealing white bikini set.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police questioned a 19-year-old youth from Bihar in connection with the deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna recently, according to news agency PTI. The police suspected that the youth had first uploaded the video on his social media platform and later shared it widely on other platforms.
