After missing the ‘Abide with me’ hymn, the government clarified, said and wanted to include Indian tunes

  • The Christian hymn ‘Abide with Me’, which played so many years at the Beating Retreat ceremony on January 29, has been taken off the tunes list two years after it was first speculated.

According to government sources, ‘Abide With Me’ has been kept out of the Beating Retreat ceremony as the government wants to include “more and more Indian tunes”. This year, only Indian original or indigenous tunes are on the list to celebrate 75 years of India’s independence as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
