Malikappuram, starring Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan, is currently dominating the Kerala box office after it hit the theaters on December 30. At the global box office, the film apparently entered the 50 crore club. Made on a small budget of Rs 3.5 crore, it managed to do well at the box office. In its fourth week, Malikappuram continues to attract audiences to the movies.
After the film’s success, residents of Palakkad Bheeman have erected a 75 feet cut out of Unni Mukundan. This is to pay tribute to the success of the film and his career in cinema. Circling back on the collections, Unni wrote, “Reporting the highest single day grosser for Malikappuram Day 24. Late evening shows and additional shows starting/continuing now!”

Malikappuram is still running on its 23rd day of release, and Kerala’s biggest single screen Ernakulam has the famous poem, “House Full”! Unni Mukundan is content and comfortable while writer Abhilash Pillai is celebrating success.
In Kerala, Malikappuram is successfully fighting against Thalapathy Vijay’s Varisu and Ajith Kumar’s Thunivu. Varisu and Thunivu were, according to reports, the two biggest Tamil Pongal releases and received a large number of screens in Kerala; However, due to the huge demand for the film, Malikappuram has new dates for the show.
The director of Malikappuram is Vishnu Shashi Shankar. Apart from Unni, Deva Nand and Sripath play important roles in the film. The film’s story focuses on an eight-year-old girl named Kalyani, who wishes to visit Sabarimala, but is unable to do so despite her best efforts. After going through a personal tragedy, her resolve to go to Sabarimala became stronger. She eventually decides to continue the journey with her classmate Unni. The film will release in Tamil and Telugu on January 26.
