As the Taliban have promised a moderate version of themselves this time, many expect a revival of cinematic channels between countries. So what does the Taliban have to say about this? in one Exclusive interview with CNN-News18The terrorist group’s spokesman, Suhail Shaheen, said cultural restoration of ties would depend on “action and policy”.

Recalling that the Taliban had provided heavy security for the crew of ‘Khuda Gawah’ in 1996, Shaheen said: “I think it depends on your action and your policy. Whether you take a hostile policy towards Afghanistan Or be it a policy based on relations and constructive approach with the people of Afghanistan. If it is positive then our people will retaliate. The dam built by India and other projects for the welfare of the people of Afghanistan, we will welcome that.”

On the question of shooting films again in Afghanistan, Shaheen said, “It is something for the future.” He said, ‘I have no comment on this as of now. What is important right now is the peace and stability of Afghanistan. We need a new Afghanistan and peace, security and national unity. This is our priority and I leave everything else for the future.”

In a candid conversation with CNN-News18, Shaheen outlines the roadmap for India-Afghanistan Relations, adding that the projects should be completed for the benefit of the Afghans if under construction.

“About their (India’s) projects which are good for the people of Afghanistan and which contribute to the welfare of the people of Afghanistan, they can complete it if they are incomplete. What we were opposing was his side with the previous government.
