The University of Delhi (DU) has decided to end its MPhil program soon and implement the National Policy on Education (NEP) 2020 from next year. This has come after several meetings of the Standing Committee (HPC).” JNU also from the academic year 2021-22. have finished their MPhil courses.

It was recommended to close the academic year 2022-23 in line with NEP 2020.

As per NEP 2020, Students will be allowed direct admission in Ph.D. After doing PG course without giving MPhil. “Doing a PhD would require either a master’s degree or a four-year bachelor’s degree with research. The MPhil program will be discontinued,” says the NEP.

The HPC at DU also recommended continuation of its three-year undergraduate (UG) programme, but integrating a four-year degree program into its structure. It also recommended the introduction of one-year and two-year postgraduate (PG) programmes.

Three or four year UG programs should be implemented as per NEP. Students will be allowed to pursue a one-year master’s course or Ph.D.

Institutions may also offer a two-year master’s program where the second year will be entirely devoted to research for those who have completed a three-year bachelor’s degree. Additionally, institutions may offer an integrated five-year bachelor’s or master’s degree.
