Talking about Pathan, Shah Rukh revealed that he has enjoyed the process of filming Pathan, but is yet to get a chance to watch the film. Calling Aditya Chopra (producer) and Siddharth Anand (director) ‘kinky’ for not showing the film yet, he said that Pathan gave him what he was missing. Shah Rukh said that he took a break after Zero because he was not enjoying the process of filmmaking, but Pathan offered him something different. And he even went on to say that he hoped he had come to Mumbai with Pathan.

Replying to a separate question, the actor said that what he remembers the most for Pathan is keeping his hair long, it’s not like the shoot is over. The pandemic helped him keep his hair long. He also added, “I’ve always wanted to grow my hair long. Hopefully when we make Part 2 of Pathan, if you all like it, I’ll grow my hair long again.”
He also celebrated his 3-decade journey in the industry by shooting for Pathan. He revealed that while he had forgotten that he would soon complete 30 years in the industry, it was Aditya Chopra who remembered it and thought it should be celebrated. And Shah Rukh said that he celebrated it in the best possible way by staying and working on the sets. He opened up about working 18 hours straight, and revealed that he had been working on Pathan since 4:30 pm yesterday, and just finished shooting at 8:30 am today. He thanked ‘friend’ Aditya Chopra for being kind, and celebrated 30 years by ‘giving me a good film like Pathan’.

Before signing on, he told an anecdote about how the film got its name. He revealed that director Siddharth Anand had narrated a lot of films and unfortunately they could not work together due to timing. For years he also had the title of Pathan. Siddharth told him, ‘Sir, I have prepared this picture, Pathan’. Shah Rukh went on to say, “One good day, when we couldn’t work on two of his scripts, he sent me a really cute message, ‘I have this title ‘Pathan’. I can’t do any films with you because of the timing. Mil Pai. Now you please take the title and make the film whenever you want.’ I still have the message.”

He said that it was only after things opened up after the pandemic that Adi (Aditya Chopra) came to him and said that Siddharth wanted to make Pathan with him then. He revealed that the film’s journey has been a long one, and that he has got the script ‘felt like a Pathan’. He described it as an ‘old, old, old dream’ that the three have seen together and hence their hair, their muscles look like ‘macho pathans’.

Pathan, starring Shah Rukh in the lead role, Deepika Padukone as the leading lady and John Abraham as the antagonist, will release on January 25, 2023.
