Afghanistan’s ODI series Vs. Pakistan postponed

ISLAMABAD: Afghanistan’s three-match ODI series against Pakistan has been postponed, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Monday.

The series was supposed to be played in Sri Lanka in early September, but the PCB said the Afghanistan Cricket Board requested a postponement following the collapse of the country’s government and its takeover by the Taliban.

The PCB cited difficulties in traveling from Afghanistan, a rise in COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka and mental health issues of the players as reasons for the postponement.

The Afghanistan cricket team had planned to travel to Pakistan by road and then to Sri Lanka via Dubai.

The PCB said that both the cricket boards will try to reschedule the series in 2022.

Last Friday, Sri Lanka announced a 10-day lockdown due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
