Afghanistan Announce T20 World Cup Squad: Rashid Khan to Captain Side, Hasmatullah Shahidi Left Out – News18

A few new names have been added to the side for this edition of the T20 World Cup with the likes of Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq, and Noor Ahmad all being named in the side.

In the latest news, Afghanistan have revealed their 15-man squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in the USA and West Indies in June this year.

The biggest of news from the announcement is that of the chosen skipper. Veteran leggie Rashid Khan has been appointed as the captain of the side, but Hashmatullah Shahidi, who led Afghanistan in last year’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, was left out of the squad.

Shahidi has made his last appearance in the shorter format for Afghanistan back in 2022.

A few new names have been added to the side for this edition of the T20 World Cup with the likes of Karim Janat, Mohammad Ishaq, and Noor Ahmad all being named in the side.

Another eye-catcher in the squad is 20-year-old youngster Nangyal Kharoti.

Kharoti made his debut for Afghanistan earlier in March this year against Ireland and immediately impressed with his bowling prowess, scalping 5 wickets in 3 matches at a stellar economy of just 5.90.

The Afghans will be counting on the likes of seasoned players such as the likes of Naveen Ul-Haq, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad and the everlasting veteran Mohammad Nabi, who all are plying their trade in the IPL 2024 currently, to lead their team to success.
