Afghanistan and UAE to Play Three-match T20I Series from February 16

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) announced that their teams will play a three-match T20I series

Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will play a three-match T20I series in Abu Dhabi Cricket And Play Cricket Board on 16, 18 and 19 February at Hub Zayed Cricket Stadium – Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed this on Saturday.

ACB has selected a preliminary list of 22 players for the preparatory camp in UAE. A week before the start of the series, the team will leave for the United Arab Emirates, where the team will attend an acclimatization camp in Abu Dhabi to prepare for the series.

Notably, the T20I series is being played as per the Mutual Cooperation Agreement, which was recently signed between Afghanistan and the Emirates Cricket Board. Based on the agreement, Afghanistan will play a series of three T20I matches with the United Arab Emirates on an annual basis.

“We are honored to be part of this partnership and are pleased with the results of our recent talks and discussions with the Emirates Cricket Board,” Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO Naseeb Khan said in a statement.

“Playing in this T20 series is the first step towards our long-term commitment and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the ECB,” he added.

Mubasshir Usmani, the secretary general of the Emirates Cricket Board, is expecting a highly entertaining series.

“Emirates Cricket looks forward to welcoming the players and staff of Afghanistan Cricket as we begin this journey and association with them. We look forward to three very competitive, highly entertaining T20I matches,” Usmani said.

This will be Afghanistan’s first international assignment of 2023 and is seen as an important preparation for the upcoming busy season, which includes a number of bilateral commitments and major events such as the ACC Asia Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup in September. World Cup 2023 in October.
