Advisory to Indian citizens in Afghanistan: ‘Security situation dangerous’ | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Indian Embassy Afghanistan has issued an advisory for Indian citizens, urging “extreme vigilance” at all times.
It has advised against all avoidable travel and asked Indians living, visiting or working in that country to be on alert in view of the security situation.
The two-page notice described the security situation in several provinces as “alarming” and said civilians, including Indian nationals, could be targeted or abducted.

The Advisor also urged caution during the movements.
“It is recommended that all forms of non-essential movements are avoided. Movements especially during peak hours should also be avoided. While traveling on roads, military convoys, vehicles of government ministries/offices, highly placed Keep a distance from potential targets such as officials, law enforcement agencies, and avoid visiting crowded markets, shopping complexes, mandis, restaurants, and other public places.”

India has already reduced its operations to several missions in Afghanistan. With Indian nationals moving out, most Indian missions are currently operating with only local staff.
Taliban forces have taken control of large areas in Afghanistan since the withdrawal of US troops. Government forces have been forced to relinquish control to counter Taliban attacks.
