Ranchi: Ranchi administration has failed to organize the annual event east diwali City quality control and inspection for adulteration Sweet Shops and stores selling vermicelli.

When contacted, the State Food Laboratory confirmed that they are receiving only surveillance samples and no legal sample has been collected this year. The head of the state food laboratory, Dr Chaturbhuj Meena, said: “We do not get any legal samples for testing and all legal samples are sent to the National Food Testing Laboratory in Kolkata.”
When asked whether they are getting samples from Ranchi for testing, Dr Meena said that the number of samples has gone down due to manpower crunch. “We have a manpower crunch and as per my knowledge, the food safety officer of Ranchi has left his job. So it has affected sample collection. ”
Ranchi administration sources confirmed that the Food Safety Cell had collected around 15 samples in the month of September, but no one collected samples after the Food Safety Officer quit.
The SDO is the nodal officer for collection and testing of samples for adulteration and since the food safety officer of Ranchi has left his job, no one has gone for sample collection.
