Actor Sanand Varma recalls his struggling days: ‘Slept in a smelly godown, walked 50 km a day to audition’

Sanand had to walk miles daily to audition, and he was so dedicated that he gave up a well-paying profession to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. In a recent interview, the actor discussed his early struggles and said what he had to go through to reach where he is now.

Sanand Verma aka Anokhe Lal Saxena in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai explains, “When I came to Mumbai to pursue my career, I had nowhere to live. I remember sleeping in the smelly warehouse of a pharmaceutical company early in my career. Since I had a journalism background in Delhi, I got a job in a news publication and started working there. And later I moved on and became a corporate employee, where I got to see a lot of good times and got a very good salary. But then I left my 50 lakhs annual corporate job to become an actor. Since childhood, I always wanted to become an actor. I used to walk about 50 kms daily to give auditions.

He revealed, “After resigning from my job, I put all my money in the house and sold my car because I didn’t have enough money for it. Because I used to make a lot of money in my corporate career, I was a luxury Was used to the lifestyle and public transport like bus and train was not my cup of tea. Also, it was not possible to arrange cab or rickshaw for daily journey. Hence, I decided to walk. My acting career She appeared in more than a dozen television shows before Main Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, and many people are unaware of it.

Talking about playing the role of Anokhi Lal Saxena in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, he said, “I was fortunate to play the role of Anokhi Lal Saxena in “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain” with the help of our director Shashank Bali ji, And from that moment on, there was no turning back for me. I believed that acting was my true calling. The reason I accepted this character was because it was a very unusual and challenging character. It was very difficult for any actor to pull it off. I’m crazy in real life too.”

The actor says, “Our audience is our biggest critic and admirer. An artist only wants love and appreciation, and I am forever grateful to them. It gives you great satisfaction when they start to recognize and appreciate your character and work. I am surprised when kids like my character and try to imitate him. His love has made me a household name. I feel blessed to have received so much love and appreciation.”
