Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran discharged from hospital after successful keyhole surgery

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who was injured during the shooting of a film and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital here, has been discharged from the hospital. In a statement, the hospital said that during the surgical procedure, Prithviraj received treatment to reconstruct and repair cartilage, cruciate ligament and meniscus injuries.

“Dr. Jacob Varghese, director of orthopedics and chief of joint preservation at VPS Lakeshore, led the successful surgery.

Following the surgery, he (Prithviraj) underwent an extensive physiotherapy to aid his recovery, VPS Lakeshore Hospital said in a statement.

Dr Varghese said that with proper care and therapy, Prithviraj is expected to make a full recovery in the next few months.

The actor was injured while shooting an action sequence for the film titled ‘Vilaith Buddha’ at Marayoor in Idukki district on Sunday afternoon. The actor on Tuesday posted a health update for fans and followers on his official Instagram account.
I met with an accident while shooting for an action sequence on “Vilaiyath Buddha”. Luckily, I am in the hands of experts who performed the keyhole surgery and I am recovering now. Rest and physiotherapy for a few months. ” the 40-year-old said in a statement.

The actor, known for films like ‘Ayyappanam Koshiyum’, ‘Pokkiri Raja’, ‘Kuruthi’ and ‘Lucifer’, said he would try his best to use the recovery period constructively. The shooting of Vilayath Buddha, directed by Jayan Nambiar and produced by Sandeep Sanon, has been temporarily halted. The film is based on the book by GR Indugopan.
