Anta is all set to re-release ahead of the Kannada star’s 71st birth anniversary on May 29.

Actor Ambareesh’s hit film Anta is all set to re-release in cinema halls on May 26 ahead of his 71st birth anniversary on May 29. Anta, upon its release in 1981, set a new benchmark for Kannada films. The fans of the late Kannada actor want to celebrate his birth anniversary by watching his film in theatres. Anta will be re-released with a new techno touch of 5.1 sound system.

Ambareesh shone in two roles in this Rajendra Singh Babu film and etched himself in the memories of the audience. Kannada cinema fans can never forget the role of Kanwar Lal played by Ambareesh. Latha and Lakshmi played the female leads in this film.

The “Rebel Star” often talked about how this film was the turning point in his life, and he always thanked Rajendra Singh Babu. The story of Anta was by HK Ananth Rao, who used to write for Sudha Patrika. When the director came to read one of his stories, he decided to make a film about it. The film was produced by Venu Gopal and Maruthi and music was given by GK Venkatesh.

Anta had to face a lot of problems before its release. One of them was that the Central Board of Film Certification did not initially give it a U/A certificate, noting that the film was dominated by violence. But this was not enough for the director to abandon his project. Instead, he filed a court case and later released the film.

The birthdays of late actors have now become an opportunity for producers to release old classics in newer technological formats in terms of sound and color through digitization.
