The assault by the policemen has been captured in the CCTV camera.

Disciplinary action has been initiated against a police officer who assaulted the cashier of a restaurant in Mumbai’s adjoining Vakola area on Wednesday. The video of this incident is viral on social media, in which Assistant Inspector Vikram Patil of Vakola police station is seen assaulting.

There is an allegation against him that he had asked for free food and liquor after the bar was closed and beat him up for not giving it. Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale said that action is being taken against the accused officer. A case has been registered against him in the same police station where the officer is posted.

Policemen came after the restaurant was closed
Mahesh Shetty, owner of Swagat Restaurant Dining Bar, said in his complaint to the police that some policemen in plain clothes entered the restaurant through the back door at around 12.30 pm on Wednesday. The restaurant was closed and most of the staff had gone home. When he was told that his staff had left for home, he assaulted and abused cashier Ramdas Patil (41). This act of the police officer was caught on camera.

Mumbai Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner of Police S Chaitanya said that disciplinary action has been initiated against Patil. Corporation head Shivanand Shetty said, “Such things not only bring disrepute to the police force, but also create distrust in the minds of the business class. We want that strict action should be taken against them.
