BJP has identified 38 of its leaders who hurt religious sentiments. Out of these, 27 elected leaders have been instructed to refrain from making such statements. They have been asked to take permission from the party before making statements on religious issues.

After the action on Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar, who made controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad, the BJP is seen in action. The statements of leaders for the last 8 years (from September 2014 to May 3, 2022) have been scrutinized with the help of IT experts. Around 5,200 statements were found to be unnecessary. The words of 2,700 statements were found to be sensitive. The statements of 38 leaders were kept in the category of hurting religious beliefs.
