While the company did not provide details on the amount of the data breach, a new post on a popular hacking forum has been spotted where the hacker is offering the 160GB of data stolen from Acer last month. The hackers claim the data stolen from Acer includes technical manuals, software tools, product documentation for phones, tablets and laptops. iso files and much more.

Acer has confirmed that it is still investigating the matter but has not seen any evidence of any customer data stored on the hacked servers. “We recently detected an incident of unauthorized access to one of our document servers for repair technicians. While our investigation is ongoing, there is currently no indication that any consumer data was stored on that server ,” Acer was quoted as saying in reports By Bleeping Computer.

Acer didn’t provide any related details for its customers, but data breaches generally have an impact on people who use its products.

Technicians usually keep a track record of all repairs done, and even keep some data around the consumer. So it is possible that hackers may try phishing for victims through their email IDs, or spoofed mobile numbers. Therefore, we suggest that all Acer users should be aware of such possibilities and should not open links from unknown mail ids and messages.
