ABP Ideas of India: See Best Minds Speak on the Revolution Called Online Education

new Delhi: On 18 August 1951, India took a giant leap in education – two years after the first Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) was established, formally inaugurated on that day in Kharagpur.

A few years later, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in 1956 in New Delhi.

Feather On November 13, 1961, India got its first Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

The establishment of such institutions within a few years of independence shows that India had a vision for education and aims to achieve in that direction.

In 75 years, more AIIMS, IITs and IIMs have come up across the country, apart from thousands of other higher education facilities.

The fact is that at least 12 of the top companies in the world have CEOs of Indian origin, Indian doctors and teachers serving around the world, and a steady increase in the number of foreign students coming to India for higher studies. To show that India has achieved a lot in the field of education.

But the Covid-19 pandemic showed how things can suddenly change. As has happened around the world, learning has gone completely online, with far-reaching consequences.

Although it was not much of a struggle for the connected generation, the poor and marginalized were suffering.
