ABP Ideas of India: People First, Politics Later – Young Turks and Their New Brand of Politics

new Delhi: The emergence of young Turks in the last few years has given a much needed new energy to the Indian political scene.

Unlike the cadre-based leaders that have defined Indian politics for years, they provide an alternative brand of politics focused on education, employment, policy making and ensuring citizens’ participation in climate change.

Among the new crop of leaders, some are descendants of political dynasties, bureaucrats leaving the civil services or freshmen with professional backgrounds.

The next generation of India’s tech-savvy leaders are working to change public perception about politics and engage with first-time voters through the widespread use of social media.

So, what kind of politics will these young Turks do? Who inspires them? What is his stand on some controversial political issues?

ABP Network’s India Thought Summit will see some young politicians discuss the future of India’s political landscape and the rise of a new generation of leaders.

Maharashtra Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Maharashtra’s Minister for Medical Education and Cultural Affairs Amit V Deshmukh and MP Poonam Mahajan will be present in the talks. They will discuss the topic “The Next Generation. People First: Politics Letter”.

Aaditya Thackeray, son of Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray, has been vocal about climate change and forest conservation. Amit Deshmukh, son of Congress veteran Vilasrao Deshmukh, has been at the forefront of improving medical education in the state. BJP MP Poonam Mahajan is the daughter of late Pramod Mahajan.
