Actor Abhay Deol on Saturday shared details about his debut Disney film Spin and posted a trailer of the India-centric family comedy.
“I know most of my audience loves me for creating edgy, alternate stories that challenge the status quo. Which is why this film is all the more special because it is a departure from my own status quo, and catering to a very young audience. Spin is a Disney movie that will go live to American audiences on their platform on August 13. This is a gem of a movie, which will make you smile and feel good. Blessed to be a part of it!” Abhay wrote on Instagram along with the trailer.
Spin is the first Disney Channel original film to feature an Indian-American. The film stars Indian-American actress Avantika Vandanapu as Indian-American teen Riya Kumar, who discovers her artistic side through the unique world of DJing. Abhay Deol plays the role of Riya’s father Arvind Kumar.
Spin is directed by Manjari Makjini, daughter of late actor Mac Mohan and cousin of actress Raveena Tandon. Meera Syal, Aryan Simhadri, Agam Darshi, Anna Cathcart and Michaela Lucy co-star in the film.
Apart from spin, Abhay’s upcoming projects are Jungle Cry, Junction and a web series based on Trial by Fire: The Tragic Tale of the Uphaar Fire tragedy written by writers Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamurthy, apart from Ajay Devgn’s production Vale.
