AAP vs LG: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reacted sharply after Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena announced the members of the Delhi Haj Committee on Friday, which included a Congress corporator. Reacting to the development, the AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleged a nexus between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

Meanwhile, Kejriwal termed the notification as ‘illegal’ and said that neither the government was consulted nor due process was followed. The BJP, however, claimed that the LG had followed all necessary procedures.

Who are all in the Haj Committee?

The Haj committee includes BJP MP Gautam Gambhir, two Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Abdul Rehman and Haji Yunus, a Congress councilor Nazia Danish, a theologian named Mohammad Saad, an expert on Islam, and a volunteer from a Muslim organization named Kausar Jahan. ,

Meanwhile, sources in the LG’s office also refuted the allegation saying that due process was followed and Nazia Danish was not made the chairperson of the committee.

AAP has accused BJP of dealing with BJP

Earlier today, on January 6, AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj said that Congress leader of the House in MCD Nazia Danish has entered into an agreement with the BJP.

He said, “The deal between the Congress and the BJP has been exposed. The best-case scenario for the BJP was for the Congress to walk out of the House. The Congress agreed to it.

In return, the BJP has made MCD Congress leader Ms. Nazia Danish a member of the Haj Committee,” Bhardwaj tweeted.

The first meeting of the newly elected MCD House was adjourned without electing the mayor and deputy mayor as AAP councilors protested vehemently against swearing in the 10 aldermen. BJP councilor Satya Sharma, the presiding officer watching the process, told that the next date will be announced later.
