Dialogue Budget 2023: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman spoke exclusively at the program ‘India TV Samvad Budget 2023’ in the national capital on Friday (February 3).

The Finance Minister today faced some tough questions from India TV Editor-in-Chief Rajat Sharma in a special episode of ‘Aap Ki Adalat’.

On Wednesday (February 1), the Finance Minister presented the Union Budget 2023-24, the last full budget of the Narendra Modi government before the general elections in 2024. This was the fifth budget presented by FM Sitharaman.

Attacking the opposition parties, the Finance Minister said that the budget is a very serious document and it is not for anyone’s enthusiasm.

FM Sitharaman said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes in policy-making after consultation with all departments. We all discussed matters related to the budget from November 2022.”

Now no one can raise the question of corruption against the Modi government.

Here are some key things said by FM Sitharaman,

  • We are working for the welfare of the public and their empowerment is necessary for BJP with full dignity
  • Congress was unable to remove corruption and poverty during its tenure
  • Over 1 lakh crore was allocated for education in last year’s budget
  • India should have a responsible opposition in a democracy
  • Through ‘Har Ghar Jal’ campaign we have provided water facility to everyone in the country
  • Arvind Kejriwal and other opposition leaders do irresponsible politics, ‘spit and run’ strategy is their style
  • Congress did nothing for muslims but PM Modi is really working in this regard which includes example of triple talaq
  • West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee has a different style and that is why she used words like baseless, useless and meaningless for the budget.
  • It is very easy to blame but it is difficult to judge
  • Enforcement Directorate is an independent organization. This is Modi’s government where instructions are not given over phone
  • They (Opposition) should be ashamed that they are showing the country in a negative way, raising questions on issues like Covid-19 vaccine

Sitharaman listed seven priorities in the budget on February 1 – the ‘Saptarishis’ – to guide the country through the ‘Amrit Kaal’, the 25-year journey towards its centenary as a modern nation.

There are 7 priorities-

  1. Overall development
  2. reach the last mile
  3. infrastructure and investment
  4. unleash potential
  5. green development
  6. fresh blood
  7. financial sector
