‘AAP is now a NATIONAL party’: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on party’s performance in Gujarat

New Delhi: AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said his party has now become a national party, following the latest trends showing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) winning four seats and leading in one seat in the Gujarat assembly elections. . Recalling how AAP started its political journey 10 years ago, it has now grown and formed governments in two states – Delhi and Punjab – in a span of ten years. He thanked his party supporters for their hard work and faith in his leadership.

“Today, AAP has become a national party. The results of the Gujarat elections have come and the party has become a national party. 10 years ago AAP was a small party, now after 10 years, it has governments in 2 states and has become a national party,” said AAP’s national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.



The AAP chief said that his party does not indulge in mud-slinging during the election campaign and only talks about the work done by the party in Punjab, Delhi. Very few parties have got the status of national party, our youth party is one of them, said Arvind Kejriwal on Gujarat election results.

Earlier, AAP MP Sanjay Singh had also said that the party has entered the ‘BJP citadel’ and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He thanked the people of Gujarat for enabling the organization led by Arvind Kejriwal to become a “national party”.

Describing Gujarat as the ‘laboratory’ of BJP, Singh said that ‘AAP’ has ‘entered’ the fort. “People of Gujarat have made AAP a national party. We will get around 15 per cent vote share in this election. Gujarat is PM Modi and Amit Shah’s bastion. Gujarat is BJP’s laboratory. After winning Punjab with a thumping majority, all the top leaders of AAP made efforts in Gujarat, however, according to the latest trends from the Election Commission, it has managed to take a lead in 6 seats.

Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also said that the Aam Aadmi Party is on its way to becoming a national party because of the votes cast by the people of Gujarat. With the counting of votes crossing the halfway mark in most constituencies of Gujarat, the BJP has got 53 per cent votes, the Congress 27 per cent and the AAP 13 per cent.

The BJP appears headed for a massive victory in Gujarat as the latest trends show that the party was leading in 156 of the state’s 182 assembly seats earlier this month. Congress finished second with a lead of 17 seats, while AAP was leading in five seats. The Election Commission said that the independent candidate is ahead in four other seats.
