New Delhi: The government on Friday extended several deadlines for income tax compliance in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The deadline for mandatory linking of Aadhaar with Permanent Account Number (PAN) has been extended by three months till September 30.
The Center has extended the deadline several times in the past as well in view of the challenges being faced by the people due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier this year, the deadline was extended from March 31 to June 30.
The revised tax compliance timelines are as follows:
* Timing of investment in residential house, for tax deduction extension of more than three months, investments required to be made on or after April 1 can now be made till September 30.
*Payment deadline for Vivad Se Vishwas The Direct Tax Disputes Resolution Scheme has been extended by two months to August 31.
*However, taxpayers can pay with additional interest amount till October 31.
* The last date for submission of Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) certificate in Form 16 by employers to employees has been extended from July 15 to July 31.
* The due date for submission of TDS statement for the last (January-March) quarter of 2020-21 has been extended from June 30 to July 15.
* Quarterly statement in Form 15CC to be submitted by the Authorized Dealer for the remittances made for the June quarter has to be submitted by 31st July.
* The deadline for submission of Equalization Levy Statement in Form No. 1 for the financial year 2020-21 has been extended by one month till July 31, while the deadline for processing the Equalization Levy Return has been extended by 3 months till September 30 Has been.
