Aadhar Card Fraud: Have You Updated Mobile Number on Aadhar? How to do it to avoid scams

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has indicated Aadhaar card Users should keep their mobile numbers updated at all times. In a word of caution against fraudsters, the statutory authority shared a post on its verified Twitter handle.

aadhar card holder It is essential to always keep your mobile number updated in the document as a registered phone number is mandatory to avail Aadhaar online services. In case the phone number is not submitted with your Aadhaar, one can visit the nearest Permanent Aadhaar Center (PAC).

The Ministry of Communications posted a tweet on the microblogging site on 20 September. The organization said in a tweet, ‘Always keep your mobile number updated in Aadhaar. If you have any doubt about whether your correct mobile number or email is linked with Aadhaar, you can verify it using this link: https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify-email -mobile.

The email address and mobile number of the registered user can be verified at the time of enrollment of Aadhaar number or the latest Aadhaar details update on the Aadhaar website.

Here is a step-by-step guide you can follow to verify email and mobile number:

Step 1: Visit the official website of UIDAI https://uidai.gov.in/ or directly type and click on https://resident.uidai.gov.in/verify-email-mobile.

Step 2: If you go to the official website of UIDAI then you have to click on My Aadhaar

Step 3: Go to the tab that reads Aadhaar Services and Select Verify Email/Mobile Number.

Step 4: Enter your twelve digit Aadhaar Number (UID) carefully.

Step 5: Provide your correct contact details (mobile number or email).

Step 6: Complete the captcha verification.

Step 7: Now click on send OTP option.

The Aadhaar number is a 12-digit number that is presented by the UIDAI body to the residents of India after certifying the complete verification process set by the authority.

Any person who is a resident of India, irrespective of age and gender, is entitled to enroll for obtaining an Aadhaar number. The person enrolling is required to provide minimum biometric and demographic information during the process which is free of cost.
