Vadodara: A 24-year-old student of the Science Faculty of MS University died after being hit by a speeding city bus in Sayajiganj on Tuesday.

The video of the incident went viral on Wednesday, causing fury among the student community who regularly use the bus depot.
Police have identified the driver as Jayesh Parmar On Wednesday.. “The CCTV footage clearly shows that Parmar hit the girl walking on the road inside the depot with a bus. Sayajiganj police inspector RG Jadeja said he had enough time to nab her but he kept on moving towards the girl.
The footage shows Solanki walking inside the depot premises while talking on the phone. The bus entered the depot, but could not detect it as its back was towards the vehicle. When she was just a few inches old, she turned back but it was too late. Some passersby tried to alert him but Solanki did not listen to his scream.
Police said the driver was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. “Parmar claimed that he immediately tried to apply the brakes on seeing the girl, but they broke down. Jadeja told TOI that the bus will be sent for investigation to find out whether his claims are true or not.
Parmar has been working as a driver in city bus service for the last 10 years and this is the first time he has met with a road accident. However, the girl’s family is completely shattered. Her father told the police that she was in Surat and left for Vadodara by train on Tuesday. A passerby who took Solanki to the hospital also called his father and informed him about the accident.
