Mirzapur: A person was allegedly beaten to death by some people in the district Mirzapur in doubt of being Thief, police said on Saturday.
In the early hours of the day, the police got information that an unidentified body was lying in Krishnapuri Colony of Katra police station area. Katra Swaminath said.
During investigation, the police found that two alleged thieves had entered the area on Friday night.
The inspector said that the locals caught one of them and thrashed him to death, leaving his body on the spot and fled.
Police have sent the body post mortem.
Further investigation is on, he said.
