From hermes to horses, money laundering accused Sukesh Chandrasekhar gave Jacqueline Fernandez several expensive gifts as per the actress’s own statements to the Enforcement Directorate. However, the Sri Lankan national told agency officials that he was not aware of the thief’s real identity at that time.
The statements were given by Fernandez during several rounds of questioning as part of the ED’s probe of Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his wife, actress Leena Maria Paul, facing prosecution in several cases including the Rs 200 crore money laundering case. The tapes and audio clips of the interrogation have now reached News18.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar And Leena Maria Paul was recently arrested by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), an alleged extortion racket being run from Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
The couple were already in the custody of Delhi Police and lodged in jail following a complaint by the wives of jailed Ranbaxy promoters Shivinder Singh and Malvinder Singh. In the FIR, Shivinder Singh’s wife Aditi Singh had alleged that Chandrashekhar cheated her of Rs 200 crore by pretending to be a government official. Chandrashekhar reportedly said that he can ensure Shivinder’s bail. Delhi Police also alleged that Chandrashekhar and his wife used hawala Routes and mask companies to park the proceeds of the alleged crime overseas.
In response to questions asked by ED officials, Jacqueline Fernandez He said he first came to know about Chandrasekhar in early 2021 when he started getting calls from “somebody”. The actress said her make-up artist Shaan Muthatil asked her to receive the call, “because she was asked to do so by a senior government official.” He said that the thief claimed that his name is Shekhar Ratna Vela.
“I did not know Sukesh Chandrashekhar. I only know him by the name of Shekhar Ratna Vela..He introduced himself as Shekhar Vela.’
According to the tapes and audio clips, Fernandez told the agency that ‘Shekhar’ claimed to be the owner of Sun TV and that he was related to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
“Shekhar told me that he is a huge fan. Soon he told me that I should make films in South India and Sun TV is making many such films. I was in touch with him since February. He gave me his number… and asked me to call this number,” Fernandez said.
When asked if there was any monetary transaction between her and Chandrasekhar, the actress told authorities that the thug gave a financial loan of $150,000 to her sister Geraldine, who lives in the United States. He said that Chandrashekhar also transferred Rs 15 lakh to his brother Warren, who lives in Australia.
The actress said that she has been living in India since 2009 and her third brother, a brother named Ryan, also lives in Australia, while her parents Elori and Kim Fernandez live in Bahrain.

Detailing the list of gifts he personally received from Chandrasekhar, Fernandez said that he gave her expensive gifts, including a horse named Espuella, three designer bags from Gucci and Chanel, two Gucci gym wear, Louis Vuitton shoes. One pair of earrings, two pairs of diamond earrings, a bracelet made of multicolored stones and also two Hermes bracelets. The actress further claimed that Chandrashekhar had given her a Mini Cooper car, but he returned it.
This List of gifts received by Jacqueline Fernandez It is also mentioned in the ED’s chargesheet filed in a Delhi court this week. The chargesheet states that Chandrashekhar also arranged private jet trips and hotel stays for Fernandez on different occasions.
It also mentions the gifts received by actress Nora Fatehi, who has also been questioned by the ED. The ED has claimed that Chandrashekhar gifted a BMW car to Fatehi in December 2020 and later gave him expensive gifts besides Rs 75 lakh.
