A few months before the elections, AAP launched ‘Change Campaign’, a membership drive to ‘reform’ the MCD

Months ahead of the civic polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday called on its members to “kick out” the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and “reform” the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). ,

Senior AAP leaders Gopal Rai and Manish Sisodia on Saturday launched ‘MCD Badla Abhiyan’ to launch a door-to-door membership drive from Sunday.

Delhi Environment Minister Rai said, “We will cover every house in Delhi and we have set a target of getting 50 lakh people in Delhi to join the party within a month.”

“We have three months left – December, January and February, as elections are in March… Hence, from Sunday, we will organize a one-day membership camp at every booth and mandal in Delhi. In this camp, people can come to join the party,” he explained to the party members at its Delhi headquarters.

Speaking on the occasion, Sisodia highlighted the work done by the Delhi government under the leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in education, healthcare and other sectors.

He urged the people to vote for AAP in the upcoming elections to bring the party to the fore to reform the municipal corporations in Delhi.

The elections to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, South Delhi Municipal Corporation and East Delhi Municipal Corporation are to be held in March or April 2022.

The BJP has been ruling the civic body since 2007. The party plans to rely on the work done in the last 15 years to repeat its victory.

Out of the total 272 seats which are now divided into North, South and East with 104, 104 and 64 respectively.
