A day after schools reopened in several states, India records 47K fresh Covid-19 cases

New Delhi: In a worrying development, India recorded over 47,000 new cases of coronavirus when schools reopened in several states. According to the Health Ministry’s bulletin, 47,092 new Covid-19 cases and 509 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours.

  • Death toll: 4,39,529
  • Total Vaccinations: 66,30,37,334

The active caseload currently stands at 3,89,583. The active cases currently account for 1.19 per cent of the total positive cases in the country. Meanwhile, the cumulative number of cured patients has increased to 3,20,28,825 with 35,181 patients being cured in the last 24 hours.

As a result, India’s recovery rate stands at 97.48 per cent. The weekly positivity rate stands at 2.62 per cent, down from 3 per cent for the last 69 days, the report centers on.

The Health Ministry informed that the daily positivity rate is 2.80 percent. The daily positivity rate has remained below 5 per cent for 87 consecutive days.

Testing capacity continues to expand across the country. The Indian Council of Medical Research, in its daily report, said that a total of 52,48,68,734 samples were tested for COVID-19 till September 1. Out of which 16,84,441 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

In a significant achievement, India’s cumulative immunization coverage crossed the 66 crore mark yesterday. With the administration of 81,09,244 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has crossed the cumulative figure of 66.30Cr (66,30,37,334) as of 7 am today, provisional report. This has been achieved through 69,60,983 sessions.
