Earlier, the DDCA had sacked the entire men’s senior selection panel following the team’s stupendous performance in the ongoing domestic season.

A day after disbanding the men’s senior selection panel, the DDCA has now decided to sack the team’s senior coach Abhay Sharma for his underwhelming performance in the ongoing domestic season.

“Yes, we have decided to sack coach Abhay Sharma for his poor performance this season and for the lack of clarity and planning,” a senior DDCA official told News18 CricketNext.

Earlier, the DDCA had sacked the entire men’s senior selection panel after the team’s underwhelming performance in the ongoing domestic season and the questionable approach and practice of the three-member committee headed by the former. India Cricketer Gagan Khoda, and former cricketers Mayank Sidhana and Anil Bhardwaj are also there.

The writing was on the wall for the Khoda-led panel as they continued to send jumbo squads – 20-22 members – and frequent changes in the playing XI and batting order didn’t impress the Rohan Jaitley-led Cricket Association’s management. , In a scathing email to the Apex Council and the CAC, President Jaitley highlighted the lack of “vision” from the selection panel.

“I am compelled to write this mail to register my disapproval at the way the men’s selection committees of DDCA are discharging their affairs. It seems that such committees are working without any vision and mission. The manner in which players are being selected and replaced at the drop of a hat has become a point of discussion,” Jaitley wrote in a strongly worded email seen by News18 CricketNext.

“I am amazed at the way the selection is being done and the way the selection committee is conducting itself,” he said.

The discussions on the selection table going public didn’t please Jaitley one bit and the DDCA chief exposed Mayank Sidhana and Gagan Khoda’s war of words in the media over the selection of the Delhi U-25 team for the CK Nayudu Trophy.

“I have also seen various messages circulating on social media as well as some media reports about the tussle between the selectors. Having disagreements and discussions is one part, however, having fights and taking those issues into the public domain is another,” Jaitley said.

jumbo squad

Jumbo squad selection in the senior teams – the under-25s and the senior team – was another issue and Jaitley felt the committee was doing “the game of cricket a disservice”.

“Despite clearly informing the committee that the strength of players will be restricted to 15-16 players, the committee has repeatedly recommended a 20-22 member squad for each team. So these committees are not only disrespecting DDCA but also the game of cricket.

way forward

While the season is well and truly over, Delhi’s senior teams can salvage some lost glory in the remaining fixtures of the upcoming U-25 CK Nayudu Trophy and the Ranji Trophy, India’s premier domestic tournament. The Yash Dhull-led senior team has three matches left – two home matches against Andhra and Mumbai and an away match against Hyderabad.

The senior men’s team will next take on Andhra at the Arun Jaitley Stadium from January 10.
