Vadodara: A man accused of killing his first wife in Santrampur town of Mahisagar district is now accused of giving triple talaq to the second wife on WhatsApp.
Accused Arif Teni allegedly wrote a letter to the woman giving triple talaq and sent it on WhatsApp On August 28, the woman approached the women’s police station in Lunawada and a case was registered.
Teni was out on bail in connection with the murder of his first wife.
The woman alleges that she was being harassed and beaten up by her husband, her two sisters and her nephew. The husband allegedly ran a gambling den and used to gamble. When the second wife protested, he used to torture her.
The woman alleged that Teni’s sisters and her nephew who lived with her instigated Teni. Teni also threatens the woman that he has killed his first wife by throwing her in the canal and that he will do the same to her.
The complainant has claimed that on August 24, she came out of her house as she was being beaten up, but Teni and others took her back to their home. Later that day when the others were not at home, she managed to escape.
The victim had gone to her father’s house in Lunawada. This is where she got the WhatsApp message when her father and another person were present with her. The letter was addressed to her father and it was said that Teni was voluntarily divorcing him. “Today I voluntarily divorce her, divorce, divorce,” the note said.
Mahila Thana Police Sub-Inspector KC Jhala said that the police will arrest the accused soon.
