PM Modi in Deoghar: People in Jharkhand’s Deoghar are in a festive mood a day ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state where he will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone for various development projects. One of the highlights of Tuesday’s event is going to be the inauguration of the Deoghar airport.
To welcome PM Modi, people in Deoghar light diyas (earthen lamps) on the eve of PM Modi’s arrival in the city on 12 July.
Reportedly, over 1 lakh diyas have been lit along with the celebration in Deoghar as people wait for the arrival of PM Narendra Modi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the newly constructed Deoghar International Airport on July 12.
He said that the Deoghar airport is ready for commissioning as two flight tests have been successful.
When commissioned, it will be the second airport of international standards in Jharkhand after Birsa Munda International Airport in Ranchi.
Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal, Airports Authority of India Chairman Sanjeev Kumar, Jharkhand Chief Secretary Sukhdev Singh, state Director General of Police Neeraj Sinha and other top officials took stock of the ongoing work in the airport premises during the day.
He also inspected the terminal building, ATC tower, fire station, power station, approach road, runway of Deoghar airport, among other facilities, an official release said.
The airport has been built on 657 acres at a cost of Rs 401 crore with 2500 meters long runway which can handle the landing and takeoff of Airbus aircraft (A320).
It has a 5,130 sq ft terminal building with six check-in counters that can handle 200 passengers at a time. The airport has an eco-friendly design and is equipped with state-of-the-art passenger amenities.
The design of the terminal building is inspired by the spire of the famous Baba Baidyanath temple in the state.
Local tribal art, handicrafts and photographs of local tourist spots are displayed inside the airport which reflect the culture of the region, the release said.
