90th birth anniversary of Amrish Puri: From ‘Ja Simran Jaa’ to ‘Mogambo Khush Hua’, take a look at the actor’s famous dialogues

AMRISH PURI BIRTH ANNIVERSARY: Considered one of the best villains of Bollywood, legendary actor Amrish Puri was one of the finest actors of the Indian film industry. Possessing the ability to grab everyone’s attention, whenever he appears on screen, the veteran star has left a mark in everyone’s heart and soul with his acting. Unfortunately, Amrish Puri left a huge void in everyone’s heart when he passed away on January 12, 2005.

  1. Jaa Simran Jaa, live your life
    This dialogue needs no introduction. The popular 90s romantic movies Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Jaa Simran Jaa, Jee Le Apni Zindagi sets the climax of the film and hence is considered as one of the most important lines in the entire film. After the film’s release on the big screen, this dialogue has become a colloquial phrase.
  2. Mogambo Khush Hua
    Said in the 1987 film Mr India, in which Amrish Puri plays an antagonist named Mogambo. Playing pure evil, Mogambo has this heady habit of referring to himself in the third person, which is quite evident from the dialogue.
  3. Itne tukde karunga ki pehchana nahi jaega
    This dialogue was narrated by Amrish Puri in the 2001 romantic action film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the lead roles. Amrish Puri played Ashraf Ali, Ameesha’s strict father. The legendary actor told this dialogue to Deol who is an Indian and married his daughter Sakina. In the film, Ashraf Ali vowed not to let his daughter go out of the country along with her husband and son.
  4. Aao Kabhi Haweli Pe
    To say that this dialogue has gone viral is an understatement, when almost the entire internet is flooded with memes and GIFs made from this dialogue, said the 1986 film Nagina. In the film, Amrish Puri plays the character of Bhairon Nath and narrates this spine-chilling dialogue from the Sri Devi starrer.
  5. Jawani Mein Aksar Break Fail Ho Jaya Karti Hai
    Said in the 1991 film Phool Aur Kaante, Jawani Mein Aksar Break Fail Ho Jaya Karti Hai was the lines stated by Nageshwar “Don”, played by Amrish Puri. The action drama film featured Ajay Devgn and Madhu in prominent roles.
