Bhubaneswar: OrissaThe Covid-19 tally rose to 11,96,140 on Saturday with 8,845 people, including 927 children, testing positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.
The daily spike in cases is the lowest in the last 10 days, down 18.5 per cent from 10,856 a week ago. The state recorded 9,833 cases and six deaths on Friday.
The death toll due to corona virus in the state rose to 8,514 as seven more patients succumbed to the infection.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar comes, recorded the maximum number of 2,528 new cases, followed by Sundergarh at 1,001 and 628. ridgeit said.
Two people have died in Angul and one each in Cuttack. PuriBhadrak, Mayurbhanj and Jajpur. So far 53 other patients have died due to comorbidities.
In the last 24 hours, 10,390 people have been cured of the disease, taking the total number of cured people to 10,99,423.
The test positivity rate dropped to 12.89 per cent from 13.21 per cent a day earlier, as 68,625 samples were tested for Covid-19.
The number of active cases decreased slightly to 88,150, including 32,405 in Khurda District, Sundergarh, Cuttack, Balasore and Sambalpur are also in the red zone, where the current infections are more than 2,500.
Puri, Jajpur and Mayurbhanj are among the 13 districts that are in the yellow zone, with more than 1,000 patients each.
