8,488 Kovid cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, the lowest number of infections reported in 538 days

Corona Case Update: India has reported the lowest number of coronavirus cases in 538 days. In the last 24 hours, 8,488 new cases have been registered in the country. According to the Health Ministry, 12,510 patients have recovered from the virus and 249 have lost their lives.

The daily increase in new coronavirus infections has been below 20,000 for 45 straight days and less than 50,000 daily new cases have been reported for 148 consecutive days.

The ministry said active cases comprise 0.34 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March 2020, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.31 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

A decrease of 4,271 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in the 24-hour period.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.08 per cent. It is less than two per cent for the last 49 days. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.93 percent. According to the ministry, it has been below two per cent for the last 59 days.

Kerala

Kerala recorded 5,080 fresh coronavirus infections and 196 deaths on Sunday, taking the caseload to 50,89,175 and the toll to 37,495.

With 7,908 more people recovering from the virus since Saturday, the total recoveries crossed 50 lakhs to reach 50,04,786 and active cases come down to 58,088, an official press release said.

The release said that of the 196 deaths, 40 were designated as COVID-19 deaths in the last few days and 156 after receiving an appeal based on the new guidelines of the Center and directions of the Supreme Court .

53,892 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of 873 cases, followed by Kozhikode (740) and Thiruvananthapuram (621).
