833 new COVID-19 cases reported in West Bengal, 14 more deaths

Kolkata, October 21: West Bengal’s Covid tally rose to 15 on Thursday after a Kolkata Municipal Corporation official tested positive for the infection due to lack of safety protocols to be followed by people during Durga Puja celebrations last week. became 83,646. However, according to the bulletin, the daily figure came down to 726 on Tuesday and went up to 107 on Thursday. The state now has 7,535 active COVID-19 cases, while 15,57,090 people have recovered from the disease, including 775 in the last 24 hours.

The percentage of positive cases out of the samples tested on Thursday stood at 2.52 per cent, the bulletin said. The recovery rate in West Bengal stood at 98.32 percent. The mortality rate was 1.20 percent.

Of the 14 deaths, seven were reported from North 24 Parganas and five from Kolkata. A total of 1,88,02,105 samples have been tested so far in West Bengal, the bulletin said.

33,018 samples were tested for coronavirus on Thursday. A total of 5,92,500 people were vaccinated on Thursday as the cumulative figure of those vaccinated rose to 6.88 crore.
